Non-noble metal (Ni, Cu)-carbon composite derived from porous organic polymers for high-performance seawater electrolysis

Sivalingam Gopi et al.

Summary: In this study, a hydrothermal method was used to prepare a porous organic polymer, which was subsequently derivatised with metal infusion under high temperature and calcination conditions to obtain pristine and metal-decorated porous carbons. These electrocatalysts showed significant activity in water splitting and excellent stability, with Ni-ANIPOP-700 exhibiting lower overpotential and Tafel slope, indicating lower energy requirements for overall water splitting. Gas chromatography was used to analyze the electrolyzed products.

Oxygen vacancy enriched NiMoO4 nanorods via microwave heating: a promising highly stable electrocatalyst for total water splitting

Arun Karmakar et al.

Summary: In this study, a suitable bi-functional catalyst for total water splitting was developed through a microwave-assisted formulation of NiMoO4 nanorods. The synthesized NiMoO4 nanorods with oxygen vacancies exhibited excellent catalytic activity for both OER and HER reactions under alkaline conditions. The formation of antibonding states with low electron population in the band gap state of NiMoO4(V-o) nanorods was found to enhance the kinetics of OER and HER.
