Inclusion of low cost activated carbon for improving hydrogen production performance of TiO2 nanoparticles under natural solar light irradiation

N. Ramesh Reddy et al.

Summary: Photocatalytic studies focus on low-cost and sustainable materials with suitable properties for high efficiency. The combination of activated carbon and TiO2 as a nanocomposite showed enhanced hydrogen production rate under natural solar light irradiation, attributed to the reduced bandgap and increased light absorption in the visible region compared to pristine TiO2. Characterization techniques such as XRD, Raman spectroscopy, TEM, and PL analysis were used to study the synthesized catalysts.

Efficient visible-light-driven hydrogen production by Zn-porphyrin based photocatalyst with engineered active donor-acceptor sites

Nageshwarrao Chanda et al.

Summary: This study presents a fine-tuned zinc-porphyrin-sensitized TiO2 photocatalyst based on a donor-pi -acceptor concept for efficient photochemical hydrogen evolution. The newly designed system demonstrates superior photocatalytic activity over conventional Pt-TiO2 and LG-22, with LG-23 showing enhanced hydrogen generation efficiency, high turnover numbers, and significant quantum yields under visible light irradiation. The presence of thiophene and BDT further extends pi-conjugation, enhancing light absorption capacity and electronic properties of LG-23 in acidic conditions.
