PEO-Based Block Copolymer Electrolytes Containing Double Conductive Phases with Improved Mechanical and Electrochemical Properties

Ze-Kun Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, advanced all solid-state block copolymer electrolytes were fabricated with double conductive phases. The presence of the double quaternary ammonium cations and the formation of the ordered lamellae phase resulted in a solid electrolyte with good mechanical strength and the ability to suppress lithium dendrites. The PEO-b-PDM-dTFSI/LiTFSI SBCPE exhibited excellent long-term galvanostatic cycle performance.

Thermodynamic understanding the phase behavior of fully quaternized poly(ethylene oxide)-b-poly(4-vinylpyridine) block copolymers

Ze-Kun Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, high charge density PEO-b-QP4VP-X BCPs were prepared by full quaternization of the P4VP block in neutral PEO-b-P4VP BCP. The phase separation behavior of PEO-b-QP4VP-X BCPs was found to be strongly dependent on the counterion species. The phase behavior was explained using a thermodynamic mechanism, in which the competition of delta(chi 1), delta chi Born, and chi(gamma) dominates the change tendency of phase behavior.

Molecular Level Differences in Ionic Solvation and Transport Behavior in Ethylene Oxide-Based Homopolymer and Block Copolymer Electrolytes

Summary: Block copolymer electrolytes blending with lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide show promising potential for solid-state Li batteries. When the Li/EO ratio reaches 1/5, the conductivity of PEO-LiTFSI drops significantly while that of SEO-LiTFSI remains constant, revealing differences in their behavior at higher salt concentrations.
