A novel approach for phishing URLs detection using lexical based machine learning in a real-time environment

Brij B. Gupta et al.

Summary: In recent times, there has been a significant increase in the number of internet-connected devices, leading hackers to target devices like smartphones, IoT, and cloud networks with phishing attacks. Researchers have proposed a machine learning-based approach to address phishing attacks, but the need for large processing powers has been a limitation. A new method using only nine lexical features has been developed for effective phishing detection, achieving a high accuracy of 99.57% with the Random Forest algorithm.
