COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy among young adults in Canada

Summary: This study explores the relationship between COVID-19 conspiracy theories, general attitudes towards vaccines, current COVID-19 vaccine factors, and COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy. The results indicate that low income, low educational attainment, and distrust towards the government are associated with higher odds of being vaccine hesitant. Factors such as attitudes towards vaccines, opinions of friends and family, trust in scientists and government, and the country of vaccine manufacturing are associated with less vaccine hesitancy.

Treatments, resource utilization, and outcomes of COVID-19 patients presenting to emergency departments across pandemic waves: an observational study by the Canadian COVID-19 Emergency Department Rapid Response Network (CCEDRRN)

Summary: This study compares the treatment, acute care utilization, and outcomes of COVID-19 patients in emergency departments during different pandemic waves. The findings suggest that evidence-based therapies were more widely adopted in the second wave, leading to reduced use of experimental therapies. Additionally, there was an increase in ED discharges and a decrease in hospital and critical care resource utilization over time, without an associated increase in mortality.

Predictors of Decision Regret among Caregivers of Older Canadians Receiving Home Care: A Cross-Sectional Online Survey

Summary: This study examined difficult decisions and decision regret among caregivers of older adults receiving home care in Canada. The most frequently reported difficult decisions were related to housing and safety. Factors associated with less decision regret included higher caregiver age, involvement of other family members in the decision-making process, wanting to receive information about the options, and considering organizations and health care professionals as trustworthy sources of information. Factors associated with more decision regret included a mismatch between the caregiver's preferred option and the decision made, involvement of spouses in the decision-making process, higher decisional conflict, and higher burden of care.

Examining the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on family mental health in Canada: findings from a national cross-sectional study

Summary: This study found that families with children under 18 at home experienced deteriorated mental health due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with parents more likely to report worse mental health, increased alcohol consumption, suicidal thoughts/feelings, and stress about domestic violence.
