Changes in Maternal Platelet Physiology during Gestation and Their Interaction with Trophoblasts

Desiree Forstner et al.

Summary: Upon activation, maternal platelets release proinflammatory mediators in the placental intervillous space, potentially affecting hormone secretion and placental function, and contributing to placental pathologies like preeclampsia. Changes in the composition and release of platelet-derived factors over gestation may serve as predictive biomarkers for the health of the developing fetus and the mother. This review highlights the possible mechanisms of platelet-trophoblast interactions and the impact of increased platelet activation on placental development.

Systematic proteomics analysis of lysine acetylation reveals critical features of placental proteins in pregnant women with preeclampsia

Yu Shangguan et al.

Summary: This study identified 373 differentially expressed proteins and found functional enrichment related to angiogenesis and the immune system. Potential biomarkers for PE diagnosis and new therapeutic targets were proposed. Additionally, acetylome analysis revealed 700 acetylation sites on 585 proteins, suggesting their involvement in the pathogenesis of PE.

Quantitative proteomics-based analyses performed on pre-eclampsia samples in the 2004-2020 period: a systematic review

Rosana Navajas et al.

Summary: The study systematically reviewed proteomics-based research on preeclampsia and identified 63 consistently regulated proteins in the context of the disease. The results were influenced by factors such as biological sources and sampling strategies, leading to the application of stringent filtering methods to select these consistently regulated proteins.

Comprehensive Proteomic Profiling of Aqueous Humor Proteins in Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy

Hu Xiao et al.

Summary: In this study, proteomic analysis of aqueous humor revealed 191 differentially expressed proteins between proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) and non-PDR groups. The majority of these proteins are involved in secretory pathways, suggesting their potential as biomarkers for clinical testing and basic research. Pathway analysis identified several key pathways related to PDR development, highlighting potential targets for therapeutic intervention.
