Impact of seed system interventions on food and nutrition security in low- and middle-income countries: A scoping review

Summary: The role of seed systems in nutrition of smallholder farmers has received little attention. This review identified three main themes: direct seed supply, improving seed access, and adoption of improved seed. The results showed that seed systems had mostly positive impacts on food security, household resilience, dietary quality, and diversity/nutrition status. However, there was a lack of focus on sustainable inclusion of seed systems into farmer seed systems.
