Possible mechanism of inoculating Oryza sativa L. with endophytic bacteria under ambient air and ozone stress

Sawitree Autarmat et al.

Summary: The study explored the effects of different plant growth-promoting bacteria (PGPB) on rice productivity and quality under ozone stress, revealing that inoculation with specific bacteria could mitigate the negative impacts of elevated ozone levels on rice production. These bacteria were found to enhance indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) production, photosynthesis capability, and ascorbic acid content in rice, leading to improved yields and quality.

Effects of exogenous salicylic acid and abscisic acid on growth, photosynthesis and antioxidant system of rice

Guanjie Chen et al.

Summary: Plant growth regulators play a crucial role in adjusting plant growth and development, and this study found that foliar application of salicylic acid (SA) and abscisic acid (ABA) can enhance the growth quality of rice. These regulators improved morphological growth and antioxidant enzyme activities, and reduced oxidative damage in the hybrid rice cultivar, but had less impact on the conventional rice cultivar.

Foliar spraying of calcium acetate alleviates yield loss in rice (Oryza sativaL.) by induced anti-oxidative defence system under ozone and heat stresses

Kittisak Lakaew et al.

Summary: The study shows that ozone and heat stresses reduce rice yield, but calcium acetate foliar spraying can alleviate yield losses and enhance rice growth and antioxidant capacity.

Application of exogenous salicylic acid reduces Cd toxicity and Cd accumulation in rice

Feijuan Wang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that spraying salicylic acid (SA) significantly decreased Cd accumulation in rice grains by promoting the deposition and fixation of Cd in leaves, thus reducing Cd content in rice. SA spraying also reduced Cd toxicity by modulating gene expression related to Cd translocation and accumulation, controlling Cd accumulation in rice. This provides a new perspective and method for reducing Cd accumulation in rice.

Auxin-Mediated Regulation of Dorsal Vascular Cell Development May Be Responsible for Sucrose Phloem Unloading in Large Panicle Rice

Yao Deng et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that removing superior spikelets from rice plants enhanced grain filling in inferior spikelets by increasing grain weight, sucrose content, starch accumulation, and endogenous IAA levels. The results suggest that auxin may act as a signaling molecule in regulating dorsal vascular cell development and sucrose phloem unloading, thereby playing a vital role in initial grain filling.

Effect of Soil-Applied L-tryptophan on the Amount of Biomass and Nitrogen and Sulfur Utilization by Maize

Krzysztof Gondek et al.

Summary: This study found that applying L-tryptophan to the soil can significantly increase maize biomass and improve the intake and utilization of nitrogen and sulfur elements. However, maintaining recommended levels of individual nutrients in the rhizosphere does not guarantee optimal nutrient intake in terms of quantity and quality.

Salicylic Acid Biosynthesis and Metabolism: A Divergent Pathway for Plants and Bacteria

Awdhesh Kumar Mishra et al.

Summary: Salicylic acid is an active secondary metabolite found in bacteria, fungi, and plants, playing important roles in regulating plant growth, stress responses, and defense mechanisms. Both plants and bacteria share a common biosynthetic enzyme, isochorismate synthase, which is involved in synthesizing SA. These compounds can undergo modifications in plants and bacteria to carry out their specific functions.
