The Promise of Tubule Biomarkers in Kidney Disease: A Review

Joachim H. Ix et al.

Summary: Serum creatinine has been the primary index for kidney disease detection and monitoring for over 70 years, but recent discoveries of kidney tubule biomarkers have provided additional information on the progression of chronic kidney disease. These biomarkers offer new opportunities for monitoring therapeutic responses in CKD patients.

Early Graft Loss after Deceased-Donor Kidney Transplantation: What Are the Consequences?

Joanna T. Swinarska et al.

Summary: Patients experiencing early graft loss (EGL) have lower retransplantation rates and inferior patient survival. High Kidney Donor Profile Index (KDPI) and donation after circulatory death (DCD) do not increase the risk of EGL or primary nonfunction (PNF) unless combined with prolonged cold ischemic time (CIT).
