Hybrid Microporous Polymeric Materials with Outstanding Permeability and Increased Gas Transport Stability: PTMSP Aging Prevention by Sorption of the Polymerization Catalyst on HCPS

Georgy Golubev et al.

Summary: The addition of a small amount of HCPS into the PTMSP matrix increases the permeability coefficients for light gases and slows down the deterioration of polymer transport properties. HCPS can sorb residues of tantalum-based polymerization catalyst from PTMSP, allowing for almost complete removal and leading to membranes with more stable transport characteristics. HCPS has a complex effect on the aging process of PTMSP, slowing down physical aging and reducing chemical aging.

Membrane Technologies for Decarbonization

A. Yu Alent'ev et al.

Summary: The deteriorating environmental situation has led to a global focus on research on decarbonization of the economy and hydrogen energy, with membrane technologies playing a crucial role in capturing CO2 and processing hydrogen. Various membrane technologies targeting CO2 capture from gas mixtures, as well as studies on hydrogen purification and production, are actively being developed. The development of hydrogen energy also involves the use of polymer membranes and palladium alloy membranes for hydrogen evolution and purification.

Behavior of Polytrimethylsilylpropyne-Based Composite Membranes in the Course of Continuous and Intermittent Gas Permeability Measurements

D. S. Bakhtin et al.

Summary: Two methods for monitoring physical aging of polymer membranes by gas permeability measurements were compared. It was found that continuous permeability monitoring, when the membrane is under excess pressure of the permeating gas, can accelerate aging and reduce experiment time significantly. Fast physical aging in a carbon dioxide stream may efficiently achieve equilibrium gas permeability for membranes based on glassy polymers with high void volume.
