Voltage selection of physisorbed or chemisorbed 4-cyanobenzoate on a nanostructured silver electrode and the dual electronic structure of charged metal-molecule hybrids

Samuel Valdivia et al.

Summary: This study revealed that applied electric potentials can tune SERS wavenumbers through the vibrational Stark effect, and 4CNB exhibits dual behavior due to two types of electronic structure in the metal-molecule hybrid. The adsorption mode of 4CNB is determined by the surface charge of the electrode, leading to different degrees of wavenumber shift depending on the strength of the bonding between the molecule and the metal electrode.

Capillary electrophoresis-mass spectrometry analysis of bisphenol A and its analogues in bottled tea beverages with dynamic pH focusing

Noorfatimah Yahaya et al.

Summary: The method presented in this study allows for the sensitive determination of bisphenol A and its analogues in bottled tea beverages at the ng/mL level by utilizing dynamic pH junction. The optimized analyte focusing results in enhanced signal detection, with good linearity, low detection limits, high analyte recovery, and promising practical applications.

Bisphenol A and its analogues in outdoor and indoor air: Properties, sources and global levels

Tijana Vasiljevic et al.

Summary: BPA and its analogues are widely used in plastic synthesis, potentially disrupting the hormonal structure of living organisms. Reports on BPA levels in air are limited, mainly due to anthropogenic activities. China reported the highest outdoor air levels of BPA near a low-tech e-waste recycling site, and indoor dust also revealed bisphenol analogues used in BPA-free products.

Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy for Bisphenols Detection: Toward a Better Understanding of the Analyte-Nanosystem Interactions

Eleonora Roschi et al.

Summary: Silver nanoparticles functionalized with CD-SH were used for detecting bisphenols A, B, and S through SERS, with an improved sensitivity. Theoretical DFT calculations allowed for structural analysis of the CD-SH/BP complex, confirming an external interaction between hydroxyl groups of BPs and CD. Experimental evidence and testing supported the lack of actual inclusion of BPs inside the CD cavity. The SERS sensor and data analysis procedures were validated for detecting BPs in milk extracts.
