Tethered Bilayer Membrane Formation on Silanized Fluorine Doped Tin Oxide Surface

Inga Gabriunaite et al.

Summary: Silane compound synthesized via click chemistry can form self-assembled monolayers on metal oxide conducting films, resulting in electrically insulating tethered bilayer membranes (tBLMs). The tBLMs, containing water-ion reservoir, demonstrate biological relevance and the ability to reconstitute specific protein channels. The addition of cholesterol can mitigate membrane damage caused by certain proteins. This biomimetic membrane system can be regenerated multiple times without losing functionality.

Development and Practical Application of Glucose Biosensor Based on Dendritic Gold Nanostructures Modified by Conducting Polymers

Natalija German et al.

Summary: In this study, a glucose biosensor based on electrochemically modified graphite rod (GR) electrodes with dendritic gold nanostructures (DGNs) and enzymatically synthesized polypyrrole (Ppy) layers was successfully developed. The biosensor exhibited high sensitivity, low limit of detection, wide linear glucose determination range, good repeatability, and storage stability.

Towards supercapacitors: Cyclic voltammetry and fast Fourier transform electrochemical impedance spectroscopy based evaluation of polypyrrole electrochemically deposited on the pencil graphite electrode

Urte Samukaite-Bubniene et al.

Summary: In this study, a pencil graphite electrode was used for the electrochemical synthesis of polypyrrole in aqueous solutions with different pH values. The research found that polypyrrole synthesized at low pH exhibited better longevity. Additionally, it was observed that the degradation of the Ppy layer was faster when stored in a phosphate buffer solution, possibly due to oxygen dissolved in the aqueous medium.

Mixed Silane-based Self-assembled Monolayers Deposited on Fluorine Doped Tin Oxide as Model System for Development of Biosensors for Toxin Detection

Inga Gabriunaite et al.

Summary: Mixed hybrid phospholipid bilayers (mhBLMs) were successfully deposited on fluorine doped tin oxide (FTO) films, triggered by two component silane-based self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) which resulted in stable and easily regenerated mhBLMs. The functional properties of mhBLMs were found to be influenced by the chemical and physical conditions under which mixed SAMs are fabricated, demonstrating potential biological relevance in biosensors for toxin detection.

Polydopamine Coated CeO2 as Radical Scavenger Filler for Aquivion Membranes with High Proton Conductivity

Roberto D'Amato et al.

Summary: CeO2 nanoparticles were coated with polydopamine (PDA) through dopamine polymerization in water dispersions. The resulting materials were used as fillers in proton exchange membranes to reduce chemical degradation, and showed improved conductivity and radical scavenger efficiency compared to bare CeO2. Emission rate data from composite membrane degradation correlated with changes in membrane mass and conductivity.
