A label-free and signal-amplifiable assay method for colorimetric detection of carcinoembryonic antigen

Peng Li et al.

Summary: This study developed an innovative colorimetric assay method for the determination of carcinoembryonic antigen using aptamer probes and DNA hybridization chain reaction for signal amplification. The method showed good selectivity and sensitivity and can be easily extended for the detection of other analytes.

Validation of Urinary Charged Metabolite Profiles in Colorectal Cancer Using Capillary Electrophoresis-Mass Spectrometry

Toru Sakurai et al.

Summary: This study validated and reanalyzed urinary biomarkers for detecting colorectal cancers (CRCs). The results showed significant differences in various metabolites, especially polyamines, between patients with CRC and healthy controls (HC). Pathway analyses revealed differences in metabolites such as glutamine, and metabolites of the TCA and urea cycles. The combination of multiple metabolites showed higher sensitivity in distinguishing the three groups compared to tumor markers.

Multimodal CEA-targeted fluorescence and radioguided cytoreductive surgery for peritoneal metastases of colorectal origin

Jan Marie de Gooyer et al.

Summary: In this study, researchers evaluated the safety and feasibility of [In-111]In-DOTA-labetuzumabIRDye800CW, a dual-labeled anti-CEA antibody conjugate, for preoperative and intraoperative imaging in patients with colorectal peritoneal metastases. The results showed that this multimodal imaging approach was well-tolerated and enabled sensitive detection of previously undetected metastases, leading to alterations in clinical strategy.

A novel polymer-based nitrocellulose platform for implementing a multiplexed microfluidic paper-based enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay

Dong Lin et al.

Summary: Nitrocellulose (NC) membranes are widely used in point-of-care immunoassays for their high protein-binding capabilities. However, creating hydrophobic structures in NC membranes for microfluidic paper-based analytical devices (muPADs) is challenging. In this study, we developed a simple and low-cost method using screen-printed polyurethane acrylate (PUA) to fabricate muPADs in NC membranes, and demonstrated the feasibility of using PUA-based NC membranes for immunoassays. A rotational paper-based analytical device was also designed and assembled for multiplexed enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) with promising results.

A novel work function tuning strategy-based ECL sensor with sulfur dots and Au NP@MoS2 nanosheet heterostructure for triple-negative breast cancer diagnosis

Sining Hou et al.

Summary: A novel biosensor based on the heterostructure of sulfur dots and Au NP@MoS2 nanosheet has been developed. The work function tuning strategy effectively suppressed the ECL quenching effect and amplified the ECL signal of sulfur dots. The sensor showed good analytical performance in the detection of miRNA-210.
