Seasonal distribution of microplastics in the surface water and sediments of the Vellar estuary, Parangipettai, southeast coast of India

Summary: This study assessed the level of microplastic contamination in the Vellar estuary on the southeast coast of India, identifying different types and colors of microplastics, as well as the distribution of major polymers. After 96 hours, the antioxidant capacity decreased and genotoxicity in blood cells was observed.
