Single ring isolation for atrial fibrillation ablation: Impact of the learning curve

Anand Thiyagarajah et al.

Summary: This study investigated the use of single ring isolation for atrial fibrillation ablation and found that with increasing procedural experience, there were higher rates of posterior wall isolation, reduced ablation times, and higher rates of inferior line sparing. Long-term freedom from arrhythmia was comparable to other ablation techniques.

Comparison of Using Second-Generation Cryoballoon and Radiofrequency Catheter for Atrial Fibrillation Ablation in Patients With the Common Ostium of Inferior Pulmonary Veins

Jia-Hui Li et al.

Summary: This study compared the procedural outcomes of cryoballoon ablation (CBA) and radiofrequency ablation (RFA) in atrial fibrillation (AF) patients with common ostium of inferior pulmonary veins (COIPV), and explored the effect of COIPV on CBA performance through the assessment of anatomical factors. The study found that CBA had shorter procedural time and longer fluoroscopy time compared to RFA. However, during follow-up, CBA and RFA demonstrated comparable atrial arrhythmias-free survival in AF patients.

Safety and Efficacy Using the Second-Generation Cryoballoon in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation and a Common Ostium of Inferior Pulmonary Veins

Hai-yang Xie et al.

Summary: The common ostium of inferior pulmonary veins is a rare pulmonary vein variation in patients with atrial fibrillation. This study demonstrates that using the second-generation cryoballoon for pulmonary vein isolation in this population is effective and safe, with a low prevalence of complications and a high success rate in preventing atrial arrhythmias during follow-up.

Summary: High-power short-duration radiofrequency ablation (HPSD RFA) showed better procedural effectiveness compared to conventional RFA in patients with atrial fibrillation, with similar safety and shorter procedural duration.

Multi-catheter cryotherapy compared with radiofrequency ablation in long-standing persistent atrial fibrillation: a randomized clinical trial

Mark M. Gallagher et al.

Summary: The study compared the efficacy of multi-catheter cryotherapy and RF ablation in eliminating AF and restoring SR in patients with long-standing persistent atrial fibrillation. The results showed that multi-catheter cryotherapy could restore SR in more patients faster, but long-term success rates were similar to RF ablation.
