Micro-scale prediction of effective thermal conductivity of CNT/Al composites by finite element method

L. Zhou et al.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of CNT configuration, heat transfer direction, interfacial thermal resistance, and volume fraction on the effective thermal conductivity of CNT/Al composites using a 3D multiscale finite element model. The results showed that the CNT configuration played a major role in determining the thermal conductivity, with the layered configuration exhibiting the highest thermal conductivity. Additionally, the composite displayed an excellent effective thermal conductivity of 400 W/m.K when the volume fraction of CNTs was about 3.7%.

Physical principles and state-of-the-art of modeling of the pulsating heat pipe: A review

Vadim S. Nikolayev

Summary: The Pulsating Heat Pipe (PHP) is a high performance passive heat transfer device that consists of folded capillary channels filled with liquid and vapor. Its advantage lies in heat exchange occurring through both latent heat transfer and liquid convection, but its non-stationary operation requires sophisticated direct modeling. A review of theoretical studies on PHP addresses physical phenomena at a single bubble and liquid plug level, discussing modeling and simulation of interactions between bubbles and plugs.
