Short- and long-term effects of whole-body photobiomodulation on pain, functionality, tissue quality, central sensitisation and psychological factors in a population suffering from fibromyalgia: protocol for a triple-blinded randomised clinical trial

Santiago Navarro-Ledesma et al.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the impact of whole-body photobiomodulation on pain perception, functionality, quality of soft tissue, central sensitisation, and psychological factors in patients suffering from fibromyalgia syndrome. The study will use a randomised, placebo-controlled clinical trial design to analyze the efficacy and long-term effects of whole-body PBM therapy.

Circadian Variation of Blood Pressure in Patients with Chronic Musculoskeletal Pain: A Cross-Sectional Study

Santiago Navarro-Ledesma et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to analyze the impact of circadian variation of blood pressure (BP) in patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain (CPM). A further purpose was to study differences in circadian variation of BP between genders and the correlation between BP circadian variation and pain. The study found that circadian variations of BP in those suffering from CMP followed pathologic cardiovascular parameters and there were gender differences. However, blood pressure itself did not correlate with pain.

Analysis of the measurement properties of the Brazilian-Portuguese version of the Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia-11 in patients with fibromyalgia

Evany Maira Espirito Santo Salvador et al.

Summary: The study aimed to analyze the measurement properties of the Brazilian-Portuguese version of the Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia-11 in fibromyalgia patients. The results indicated that the scale demonstrated good internal consistency, reliability, and validity in assessing fear of movement, as well as showing responsiveness to change scores after an eight-week intervention.

Quantitative Ultrasound Texture Feature Changes With Conservative Treatment of the Trapezius Muscle in Female Patients With Myofascial Pain Syndrome

Mert Sancar et al.

Summary: The study recruited 63 female myofascial pain syndrome subjects and 20 healthy controls. The results showed that ultrasound texture features of blob size and count changed after conservative physical therapy, corresponding to improvements in pain ratings and disability scores. Cervical range of motion values were significantly increased at 3 months compared to pre-treatment, indicating the effectiveness of the therapy.

Juan Antonio Valera-Calero et al.

Summary: This study aimed to analyze the differences in pain pressure thresholds and SWE features between active MTrPs, latent MTrPs, and control points in the upper trapezius. Significant PPT differences were found between active MTrPs and latent MTrPs, as well as control points. SWE did not show significant correlation with clinical severity indicators.
