Summary: In this study, an ultralow density, photothermal, superhydrophobic, and thermally conductive polyurethane/polyaniline/hexagonal boron nitride@Fe3O4/polyacrylicoleic acid resin sponge was fabricated for the separation of high-viscosity crude oil from water. The sponge exhibited excellent absorption capacity and stability, making it a promising tool for the removal of organic solvents and highly viscous crude oil.

Laminated Structural Engineering Strategy toward Carbon Nanotube-Based Aerogel Films

Summary: In this study, a free-standing carbon nanotube (CNT)-based aerogel film with a laminated porous structure and high electrical conductivity was prepared using a laminated structural engineering strategy. The film showed a large specific surface area and the highest specific shielding effectiveness among reported aerogel-based materials. It also exhibited exceptional Joule heating performance, making it suitable for lightweight applications such as EMI shielding and wearable heating.

Solar-assisted high-efficient cleanup of viscous crude oil spill using an ink-modified plant fiber sponge

Summary: Rapid and efficient clean-up of viscous crude oil spills remains a global challenge. In this study, a solar-heated ink modified plant fiber sponge (PFS@GC@PDMS) was designed as a high-performance absorbent for crude oil clean-up and recovery. The modified sponge exhibited excellent compressibility, hydrophobicity, and oil absorption capacity. It can be used for continuous absorption of oil spills on the water surface.

A green, durable and effective flame-retardant coating for expandable polystyrene foams

Summary: This article introduces a formaldehyde-free phosphorus-containing polysiloxane coating for flame retardancy of EPS foam. The coating acts as both an adhesive and a flame retardant, providing durable thermal insulation and forming a graphited char layer to isolate oxygen, heat, combustible compounds, and smoke particles during combustion. EPS composites treated with this coating exhibit high fire safety and excellent comprehensive performance.
