Unequal Jury Representation and Rs Consequences

Shamena Anwar et al.

Summary: This article analyzes the extent and consequences of unequal representation on juries in Harris County, Texas. The study finds that residents from predominantly White and high-income neighborhoods are overrepresented on juries, and Black defendants are more likely to be convicted and receive longer sentences from juries with more residents from these overrepresented neighborhoods. The authors estimate that equal representation could significantly reduce the sentence lengths and probability of life sentences for Black defendants.

Summary: This study compares the COVID-19 transmission rates in South Korea and Louisiana, examining the potential impact of racial justice interventions on the pandemic.
