The Fe0.2Ni0.8-P0.5S0.5 electrode exhibits superhydrophilicity and aerophobicity, facilitating the exposure of active sites and enhancing gas and electrolyte diffusion. AEMWE based on the Fe0.2Ni0.8-P0.5S0.5 electrodes demonstrates good stability and high efficiency.

Chemical transformation approach for high-performance ternary NiFeCo metal compound-based water splitting electrodes

Summary: Developing high-efficiency and cost-efficient electrodes for hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions is a major challenge in water electrolysis technology. A chemical transformation route was developed to produce high-performance OER and HER electrodes, which outperformed most other catalysts reported to date. An alkaline water electrolyzer based on these electrodes achieved a current density of 10 mA/cm(2) at an only 1.47 V-cell, while an anion exchange membrane water electrolyzer reached a current density of 500 mA/cm(2) at an only 1.75 V-cell.

NiCu mixed metal oxide catalyst for alkaline hydrogen evolution in anion exchange membrane water electrolysis

Summary: The optimization of nickel-copper catalysts for cathode performance in anion exchange membrane (AEM) water electrolysis has been reported, with NiCu mixed metal oxide nanosheets showing rapid kinetics for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). In alkaline electrolytes, the activity and stability of NiCu MMO increase with KOH concentration, and the use of Nafion ionomer in the ink results in higher HER current density. The NiCu MMO cathode, paired with Ir black as the anode, achieves AEM electrolyzer performance comparable to PEM water electrolysis.

Next-generation anion exchange membrane water electrolyzers operating for commercially relevant lifetimes

The bipolar membrane water electrolysis can be sustained for at least 100 hours without significant degradation.
