Ningning Sun et al.

Summary: This research presents a flexible ferroelectric film with a multilayer heterostructure, which shows excellent energy storage performances. The synergistic effect of the electric field amplification effect, interface blocking effect, and polarization coupling effect in the multilayer heterostructure enables the film to achieve a win-win situation of breakdown strength and polarization. Additionally, the flexible ferroelectric film exhibits stable performance under different temperature, frequency, fatigue, and bending radius conditions.

Bilayer structured PVDF-based composites via integrating BaTiO3 nanowire arrays and BN nanosheets for high energy density capacitors

Ru Guo et al.

Summary: In this study, a unique spatial design in bilayer structured PVDF based nanocomposites is proposed by incorporating BaTiO3 nanowire array with high permittivity and BN nanosheets with wide-band gap. The synergy ascension of permittivity and breakdown strength is achieved through the optimization of BN nanosheet content. The experimental results show that the BaTiO3/BN-PVDF nanocomposite exhibits higher dielectric permittivity, increased electric displacement, enhanced breakdown strength, and suppressed leakage current density compared to other materials. The discharged energy density is also significantly improved, making it a promising candidate for high-performance electrostatic capacitors.

Enhancement thermal stability of polyetherimide-based nanocomposites for applications in energy storage

Weijun Miao et al.

Summary: The study focuses on improving the thermal stability of high-performance polymer-based nanocomposite films for electrical energy storage by utilizing polyetherimide (PEI) based composite films with SrTiO3 (ST) nanofillers through grafting method. The optimized filler compositions show high discharged energy density at both room temperature and 100 degrees C, offering significant promise for high energy density polymer-based nanocomposite films capacitors under harsh environments.

Largely enhanced dielectric properties of polymer composites with HfO2 nanoparticles for high-temperature film capacitors

Lulu Ren et al.

Summary: Polymer dielectrics, particularly high-temperature polymer composites with hafnium oxide nanoparticles, show improved dielectric properties and energy storage performance at elevated temperatures. The incorporation of HfO2 enhances the dielectric constant and reduces leakage current density, leading to superior energy storage compared to conventional engineering polymers. This study demonstrates the effectiveness of incorporating nanoparticles with a medium dielectric constant in improving the high-temperature capacitive properties of polymer composites.

Synchronously promoted discharged energy density and discharged efficiency in PVDF films through a linear dielectric polymer PP blending approach

Yanxin Han et al.

Summary: Through a simple modified polymer blending approach, employing nonpolar polypropylene (PP) has enhanced the discharge efficiency (η) and energy density (U-e) of ferroelectric poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF). Despite the poor miscibility of PVDF and PP, a specific manufacturing process was able to achieve their homogenous dispersion, thereby improving the performance of PVDF.

Ultrahigh energy density of poly(vinylidene fluoride) from synergistically improved dielectric constant and withstand voltage by tuning the crystallization behavior

Ru Guo et al.

Summary: Research demonstrates that significant improvements in electric displacement and breakdown strength can be achieved by tuning the crystallization behavior of PVDF polymer films, with phase transition and crystal orientation being key factors. PVDF films stretched to 500% exhibit the highest discharge energy density among dielectric polymers during solid-state drawing.
