A randomized controlled trial of antibody response to 2019-20 cell-based inactivated and egg-based live attenuated influenza vaccines in children and young adults

Katherine Williams et al.

Summary: This study compared the hemagglutination inhibition (HAI) response of healthy children and young adults to LAIV4 and ccIIV4 vaccines. The findings showed that ccIIV4 had a greater HAI response than LAIV4, and the pre-vaccination HAI titer inversely predicted the response for both vaccines.

COVID-19 vaccines in patients with cancer: immunogenicity, efficacy and safety

Annika Fendler et al.

Summary: The efficacy and immunogenicity of COVID-19 vaccines in cancer patients are uncertain due to their exclusion from pivotal clinical trials. In this Review, the current knowledge on vaccine efficacy and immune responses in cancer patients is summarized, highlighting key factors that may affect vaccine efficacy in this population.

Relative Effectiveness of Cell-based Versus Egg-based Quadrivalent Influenza Vaccines in Children and Adolescents in the United States During the 2019-2020 Influenza Season

Mahrukh Imran et al.

Summary: This study examines the relative vaccine effectiveness of egg-based and mammalian cell-based quadrivalent influenza vaccines in children and adolescents. The results demonstrate that the mammalian cell-based vaccine is more effective in preventing influenza-related medical encounters compared to the egg-based vaccine.

Safety and Immunogenicity of Cell-Based Quadrivalent Influenza Vaccine: A Randomized Trial

Brandon J. Essink et al.

Summary: This study compared the safety and immunogenicity of a cell-based quadrivalent inactivated influenza vaccine (QIVc) with a US-licensed quadrivalent inactivated influenza vaccine (QIV) in young children. The results showed that QIVc was well-tolerated and had immune responses similar to QIV in children aged 6 through 47 months.

Humoral immunogenicity of the seasonal influenza vaccine before and after CAR-T-cell therapy: a prospective observational study

Carla S. Walti et al.

Summary: CAR-T cell therapy recipients for B cell malignancies have impaired humoral vaccine immunogenicity compared to non-immunocompromised adults, with seroprotection less frequent. However, even individuals with low immunoglobulin and cellular immunodeficiencies show evidence of immunogenicity to vaccination. Additional infection-prevention strategies may be needed for this population.

Baseline CD3+CD56+(NKT-like) Cells and the Outcome of Influenza Vaccination in Children Undergoing Chemotherapy

Evelin A. Leibinger et al.

Summary: The study found that normal CD4+ lymphocyte levels within age-specific ranges are associated with better antibody response to certain influenza strains post-vaccination. Patients with CD3+CD56+ (NKT-like) cells above predicted values based on age also showed significant associations with antibody response against all three influenza strains investigated. Additionally, having an absolute lymphocyte count above 1000/mu l was positively correlated with antibody response to certain strains post-vaccination.
