Reconfigurable perovskite nickelate electronics for artificial intelligence

Hai-Tian Zhang et al.

Summary: This work demonstrates the on-demand creation of artificial neurons, synapses, and memory capacitors in post-fabricated perovskite NdNiO3 devices through single-shot electric pulses, utilizing the sensitivity of perovskite nickelates to the local distribution of hydrogen ions. Experimental data from memory capacitors, along with simulation results of a reservoir computing framework, show excellent performance for tasks such as digit recognition and classification of electrocardiogram heartbeat activity. Reconfigurable artificial neurons and synapses outperform static networks for incremental learning scenarios, showcasing the potential of adaptive networks in brain-inspired computing.
