Simultaneous confidence intervals for mean differences of multiple zero-inflated gamma distributions with applications to precipitation

Pengcheng Ren et al.

Summary: Changes in precipitation have significant effects on many aspects of everyday life. Comparing different forms of precipitation between various periods or regions can help decision-making. This article compares three methods for constructing simultaneous confidence intervals for mean differences of multiple zero-inflated gamma distributions. The exact method provides more accurate results, while the two approximate methods are faster and satisfactory for large shape parameters.

RATIO ESTIMATION OF THE POPULATION MEAN USING AUXILIARY INFORMATION UNDER THE OPTIMAL SAMPLING DESIGN

Chunxian Long et al.

Summary: This article investigates ratio-type estimators of the population mean using ranked set sampling (RSS) and extreme ranked set sampling (ERSS) schemes. Results show that the estimators in RSS and ERSS are significantly more efficient than their counterparts in simple random sampling (SRS).

Bayesian estimation for the mean of delta-gamma distributions with application to rainfall data in Thailand

Theerapong Kaewprasert et al.

Summary: This study constructs credible and highest posterior density (HPD) intervals for rainfall forecasting based on Bayesian methods, providing a way to predict future rainfall and reduce the risks of disaster caused by excessive or too little rainfall. The proposed methods are illustrated using rainfall data from Chiang Mai province, Thailand.

Confidence intervals for zero-inflated gamma distribution

Xiao Wang et al.

Summary: This study addresses the issue of constructing confidence intervals for the mean of a gamma distribution that includes zero values. Three different methods, including the Parametric Bootstrap method, fiducial inference, and the method of variance of estimates recovery, are introduced. Simulation studies demonstrate that the proposed methods outperform the existing method in terms of coverage probabilities, tail error rates, robustness, and computational time.

Confidence Intervals for the Ratio of Variances of Delta-Gamma Distributions with Applications

Wansiri Khooriphan et al.

Summary: This study compares the rainfall dispersion between two datasets using the ratio of variances of delta-gamma distributions and constructs confidence intervals for this ratio. The performance of different confidence interval methods is evaluated through Monte Carlo simulation, and suitable methods for datasets with different characteristics are identified. The proposed methods are illustrated using rainfall data from Phrae province, Thailand.

Bayesian estimation of rainfall dispersion in Thailand using gamma distribution with excess zeros

Wansiri Khooriphan et al.

Summary: The gamma distribution is commonly used for modeling environmental data. However, the presence of zero observations in rainfall data violates the assumption of positive values in a gamma distribution, requiring a gamma model that treats excess zeros as a binary random variable. This study proposes confidence intervals for the variance of a gamma distribution with excess zeros using different methods and evaluates their performance through Monte Carlo simulations.

Bayesian confidence intervals for a single mean and the difference between two means of delta-lognormal distributions

Patcharee Maneerat et al.

Summary: This article proposes a method for calculating the mean rainfall amount based on the Bayesian approach, including interval estimates and an adjustment process, which is compared with existing methods. The results show that HPD-beta performs well with small to moderate sample sizes, while HPD-U performs well with large sample sizes, and HPD-U demonstrates excellent performance in comparing two means.
