Dynamic modeling of combined concentrating solar tower and parabolic trough for increased day-to-day performance

Georgios E. Arnaoutakis et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the potential of two concentrating solar power technologies, central power towers and parabolic trough collectors, in the same plant configuration through dynamic modeling. The results show that the configuration of a power tower and parabolic trough collectors has a more stable power profile and higher capacity factor compared to standalone plants based on a single technology.

Exergetic and economic optimization of a solar-based cogeneration system applicable for desalination and power production

Ramin Ghasemiasl et al.

Summary: The research examined the optimal operation of a combined cycle power plant that generates water and electricity using parabolic solar collectors. Results showed that increasing desalination effects led to higher electricity generation costs and increased interest rates for freshwater production. This optimization improved exergy efficiency by 1.74%.

4E investigating of a combined power plant and converting it to a multigeneration system to reduce environmental pollutant production and sustainable development

Ramin Ghasemiasl et al.

Summary: The study found that the multigeneration system using R141b as the operating fluid for the ORC is the most cost-effective for electricity generation and water supply, but also generates the highest pollution. On the other hand, the system using R600 as the operating fluid is the most environmentally friendly, but has the lowest electricity generation and highest production cost. Overall, the multigeneration system with R141b is the best option.

3E analysis and optimization of an innovative cogeneration system based on biomass gasification and solar photovoltaic thermal plant

Matin Teymouri et al.

Summary: In this study, an innovative hybrid solar/biomass cogeneration plant is designed and optimized to generate power and heat, with energy and exergy efficiencies of 69.15% and 23.11% respectively. The system produces 14.55 MW of electricity with a total cost rate of $633.04/h. Optimal cases showed improvements in total cost rate and levelized cost of electricity compared to the base case.
