Localised spatial structures in the Thomas model

Fahad Al Saadi et al.

Summary: The paper systematically investigates the formation of localized structures in the Thomas model using modern ideas from the theory of dynamical systems. It reveals the significant changes in Turing instability at the degenerate points and the temporal stability of localized solutions depending on the presence of Hopf bifurcations and diffusion ratio.

Application of piecewise fractional differential equation to COVID-19 infection dynamics

Xiao-Ping Li et al.

Summary: We proposed a new mathematical model to study the COVID-19 infection using piecewise fractional differential equations. The model was initially designed using classical differential equations and later extended to the fractional case. We considered infected cases generated in the health care sector and formulated the model in both integer and fractional orders. Through numerical simulations and parameter determination, we verified the reliability of the model.

Improvement of heat transfer mechanism through a Maxwell fluid flow over a stretching sheet embedded in a porous medium and convectively heated

Ahmed M. Megahed

Summary: The research focuses on the theoretical analysis of MHD steady flow of non-Newtonian Maxwell fluid due to a stretching sheet in a porous medium with convective boundary condition. Internal heat generation, viscous dissipation, variable conductivity, and variable viscosity processes are examined for their effects on temperature distribution. By introducing similar solution and utilizing a numerical method, the study sheds light on the impact of controlling parameters on fluid flow, with discussions on local skin-friction coefficient and local Nusselt number for a comprehensive explanation of the problem.

Modeling of MHD fluid flow over an unsteady stretching sheet with thermal radiation, variable fluid properties and heat flux

Ahmed M. Megahed et al.

Summary: This study investigates the laminar flow and heat transfer of MHD fluid on an unsteady stretching sheet with extended heat flux, where viscosity and thermal conductivity vary with temperature. The system of coupled nonlinear ordinary differential equations governing the problem is solved using a shooting method combined with the Runge-Kutta algorithm. The numerical results show good agreement with existing literature and provide detailed insights into the effects of different governing parameters on the velocity and temperature profiles.

Slip Effects on MHD Squeezing Flow of Jeffrey Nanofluid in Horizontal Channel with Chemical Reaction

Nur Azlina Mat Noor et al.

Summary: This study examines the heat and mass transfer characteristics in hydromagnetic squeeze flow of Jeffrey nanofluid between two plates over a permeable medium considering slip condition, viscous dissipation, and chemical reaction. It implements Buongiorno's nanofluid model, including Brownian motion and thermophoresis impacts, and transforms governing partial differential equations into ordinary differential equations via similarity transformation. The results show that squeezing plates accelerates velocity and wall shear stress, while the velocity, temperature, and concentration profiles decrease with an increase in Hartmann number and ratio of relaxation and retardation times. Additionally, thermophoresis and viscous dissipation increase temperature distribution and heat transfer rate, while mass transfer rate decreases due to strong Brownian motion but increases with the addition of chemical reaction and thermophoresis.
