The computational study of heat transfer and friction drag in an unsteady MHD radiated Casson fluid flow across a stretching/shrinking surface

M. Riaz Khan et al.

Summary: This article investigates the radiated stagnation point flow of a time dependent Casson fluid across a permeable stretching/shrinking surface with mass suction, magnetic field and non-uniform heat source and sink. The nonlinear PDEs are transformed into non-dimensionless ODEs and solved using the bvp4c built-in function in MATLAB. The results include temperature, skin friction, velocity and Nusselt number, and show that the friction increases with Casson parameter, suction and Hartmann number. Furthermore, the heat transfer rate decreases with Eckert number and radiation parameter, but increases with surface shrinking and suction rate.

ANALYSIS OF THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY OF DAMAGED TREE-LIKE BIFURCATION NETWORK WITH FRACTAL ROUGHENED SURFACES

Boqi Xiao et al.

Summary: This study systematically investigates the heat conduction phenomenon of a new damaged tree-like bifurcation network with fractal roughened surfaces and derives the equivalent thermal conductivity. The results show that the dimensionless thermal conductivity decreases with increasing roughness. Moreover, an increase in the number of damaged channels leads to a decrease in the optimal thermal conductivity but a slow increase in the critical diameter. The study reveals the heat transfer mechanism of tree-like bifurcation network.

Fluid structure interaction study of non-Newtonian Casson fluid in a bifurcated channel having stenosis with elastic walls

Hasan Shahzad et al.

Summary: Fluid-structure interaction (FSI) has significant applications in biomedical and mechanical engineering, particularly in studying the elastic wall behavior of stenotic arteries. This study explores the flow of non-Newtonian, incompressible Casson fluid in a bifurcated artery with a stenosis, using a dimensionless form of nonlinear differential equations and the Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) approach. The analysis evaluates the influence of hemodynamic effects on stenotic arteries, bifurcation region, and elastic walls through graphical results of pressure field, velocity profile, and wall load. The findings indicate an increase in wall shear stresses with higher Bingham and Hartmann numbers.

Yan Cao et al.

Summary: This study utilized machine-learning approaches to simulate the electrical performance of PV/T systems cooled by water-based nanofluids, finding the ANFIS as the most effective method. The optimized condition with 30 lit/hr of water-silica nano-coolant at a radiation intensity of 788.285 W/m(2) maximized electrical efficiency by 27.7%. The ANFIS model successfully predicted a large amount of experimental data and an external database with a low average relative deviation and high R-squared value.

Khalil Ur Rehman et al.

Summary: This study considers a partially heated double forward-facing step and investigates the transformation of the centers of heated obstructions and the variation of Nusselt number through numerical analysis. The results indicate that the drag coefficient for partially heated obstructions decreases with the Reynolds number and the developed ANN model can accurately predict drag and lift coefficients.

Modeling Fluid Flow in Fractured Porous Media with the Interfacial Conditions Between Porous Medium and Fracture

N. Hosseini et al.

Summary: The cubic law is commonly used to predict fluid velocity within fractures, but for fractured porous media, the velocity profile inside the fracture can be affected by interface conditions between the fracture and porous matrix. This paper introduces a correction factor to the flow equation along the fracture and considers various non-dimensional numbers to determine the mean velocity inside the fracture.
