Effective and robust rocking centrifugal pendulum vibration absorbers

Johannes Mayet et al.

Summary: This work presents a design methodology for robust and effective centrifugal pendulum absorbers, which can translate the relative center of mass along a given path and rotate angular body. The method reduces rotor fluctuations and is suitable for aircraft and automotive drive systems. The application of nonlinear tautochronic design philosophy and nonlinear detuning enables the design of more effective and robust absorbers.

Seismic response control of bridges with nonlinear tuned vibration absorbers

Said Elias et al.

Summary: The study investigates the seismic response control of bridges using nonlinear tuned vibration absorbers (n-TVAs) by comparing them with optimum linear TVAs (o-TVAs) and elasto-plastic bilinear TVAs (bn-TVAs). Results show that n-TVAs are as effective as o-TVAs in controlling structural response, providing a more economical solution without the need for additional dashpots, although their stroke is comparable to that of o-TVAs.

A common framework for the robust design of tuned mass damper techniques to mitigate pedestrian-induced vibrations in lively footbridges

Javier Fernando Jimenez-Alonso et al.

Summary: The dynamic response of modern slender footbridges to pedestrian actions and uncertainties is usually controlled by tuned mass dampers. Different types of tuned mass damper techniques require robust design algorithms, proposing a motion-based design method under uncertain conditions to create a common framework for all techniques.
