Rolling-optimized model predictive vibration controller for offshore platforms subjected to random waves and winds under uncertain sensing delay

Hui Ma et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the vibration control problem in an offshore platform control structure. A model predictive controller is designed using the internal model principle (IMP) and model predictive control (MPC) based on linear quadratic optimal theory. A rolling-optimized observer is used to observe and estimate mixed external disturbance. The process of finding a vibration suppression controller is summarized as a global optimization problem. Simulation experiments are conducted to compare the proposed control strategy with other controllers.

Recoil control of deepwater drilling riser systems via optimal control with feedforward mechanisms

Yan-Dong Zhao et al.

Summary: This paper focuses on the dynamic modeling and optimal recoil control of a deepwater drilling riser system considering the friction force of drilling fluid discharge. A linear exosystem model is established to describe the dynamic properties of the friction force, and a recoil dynamic model is proposed to describe the recoil response characteristics. An optimal recoil control scheme with discharge feedforward compensation is developed, and the gain matrices of the controller are obtained by solving algebraic Riccati and Sylvester equations. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed controller can significantly reduce the recoil response of the riser system and outperforms existing control schemes.

Dynamic Damping-Based Terminal Sliding Mode Event-Triggered Fault-Tolerant Pre-Compensation Stochastic Control for Tracked ROV

Qiyu Chen et al.

Summary: This paper aims to study the stability issue of trajectory tracking control for Underwater Tracked Remotely Operated Vehicles (UTROVs) in harsh deep water environments, and proposes a design method for stochastic model and dynamic damping-based terminal sliding mode event-triggered fault-tolerant controllers. By designing a stochastic model and dynamic damping reaching law, the global finite-time convergence and reduction of chattering are achieved. In addition, a dynamic event trigger mechanism and fault analysis are designed for dealing with actuator failures and transmission issues. The simulation results verify the advantages and the achievement of the design expectations of this method.
