Protection effectiveness of sacrificial cladding for near-field blast mitigation

Hongyuan Zhou et al.

Summary: The present study investigated the protection effectiveness of sacrificial cladding under near-field blast through experimental and numerical methods. Results showed that increasing face plate thickness and core strength can achieve positive protection effects by reducing energy input to the system and increasing energy absorption of the cladding.

Numerical Investigation on Performance Optimization of Offshore Sandwich Blast Walls with Different Honeycomb Cores Subjected to Blast Loading

Hong Lin et al.

Summary: This research provides a quantitative optimization scheme for offshore sandwich blast walls with different honeycomb cores, and analyzes the dynamic performance of these walls through numerical simulation. It is found that the sandwich plate with concave arc honeycomb core has the best anti-blast performance, and the influence of geometric parameters on its blast-resistance performance is evaluated.

Numerical Investigation of Different Core Topologies in Sandwich-Structured Composites Subjected to Air-Blast Impact

Marcel Walkowiak et al.

Summary: Air-blast loading poses a serious threat to both military and civil structures, and the use of sandwich-structured composites has become popular due to their high resistance against blast and ballistic impacts. The core topology of the composites plays a crucial role in determining their functional properties. This study conducts a thorough numerical investigation on different core topologies under blast loading, with a special focus on the advantageous properties of auxetic core topologies.
