Graphite coatings for biomedical implants: A focus on anti-thrombosis and corrosion resistance properties

Sadia Hassan et al.

Summary: The present study coated stainless steel substrates with graphite through physical vapor deposition (PVD) to improve the hemocompatibility and antithrombosis properties of medical implants. The smoothness, strength, and thickness of the coating showed a direct relationship. After the coating, the hydrophilicity of the surface increased, reducing platelet adhesion. The hemolysis potential and corrosion rate were significantly reduced, and no material release was observed from the coated specimens.

Pharmacophore screening, molecular docking, ADMET prediction and MD simulations for identification of ALK and MEK potential dual inhibitors

Haoran Zhang et al.

Summary: The ALK fusion gene is a common driver gene in NSCLC, leading to cancer cell proliferation through MAPK and other signaling pathways. Drug resistance in ALK-positive NSCLC is highly dependent on MAPK pathway activation, which can be delayed by combined ALK and MEK inhibition. Dual ALK/MEK inhibitors were designed through CADD, resulting in compounds with potential inhibitory ability and druggability.

Precision medicine in human heart modeling Perspectives, challenges, and opportunities

M. Peirlinck et al.

Summary: Precision medicine is a new approach in healthcare that customizes medical treatment based on each individual's genes, anatomy, physiology, and lifestyle. In the field of cardiovascular health, precision medicine shows promise in improving quality of life and reducing mortality rates. The role of human heart modeling in precision medicine is still being explored, but personalized models can be created using machine learning and population-based libraries, rather than requiring fully personalized high-resolution whole heart models.
