Assessment of Regional Ventilation During Recruitment Maneuver by Electrical Impedance Tomography in Dogs

Aline Magalhaes Ambrosio et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the distribution of regional ventilation during recruitment maneuvers using EIT. The results suggest that decreasing PEEP from 10 to 5 cmH(2)O can achieve better lung recruitment and less overdistention.

Evaluation of lung ventilation distribution using electrical impedance tomography in standing sedated horses with capnoperitoneum

Shannon G. Beazley et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effect of carbon dioxide insufflation on lung ventilation distribution in standing sedated horses. The results showed that there were no significant changes in lung ventilation distribution with increasing intra-abdominal pressure, but there was a significant decrease in tidal volume.

Computed Tomography Assessment of Tidal Lung Overinflation in Domestic Cats Undergoing Pressure-Controlled Mechanical Ventilation During General Anesthesia

Alessandro R. C. Martins et al.

Summary: This study evaluated lung overinflation in cats undergoing general anesthesia at different levels of airway inspiratory pressure using computed tomography. The results showed that as airway pressure increased, lung volume and the proportion of overinflated lung tissue also increased.

Thoracic Electrical Impedance Tomography-The 2022 Veterinary Consensus Statement

Olivia A. Brabant et al.

Summary: Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) is a non-invasive real-time non-ionising imaging modality widely used in veterinary medicine, especially in evaluating ventilation distribution in anesthetized and conscious animals. Standardizing approaches to data collection, analysis, interpretation and nomenclature is crucial for ensuring comparison and repeatability between researchers and studies.
