Day-old chicken quality and performance of broiler chickens from 3 different hatching systems

Carol Souza da Silva et al.

Summary: This study compared the day-old chicken quality and growth performance under two different rearing systems, on-farm hatching and hatchery-fed. The results showed that chickens hatched on-farm or fed in the hatchery were heavier than conventionally hatched chickens at day 1, but had worse day-old chicken quality in terms of certain indicators.

L-Leucine In Ovo Administration Causes Growth Retardation and Modifies Specific Amino Acid Metabolism in Broiler Embryos

Guofeng Han et al.

Summary: In ovo administration of L-Leucine was shown to affect embryonic growth and amino acid metabolism, leading to decreased embryo and yolk sac weight, altered plasma amino acid concentrations, and increased hepatic Lys concentration. Interestingly, the Leu concentrations in plasma and liver were not affected by L-Leu administration, suggesting that L-Leu was metabolized before embryonic day 14 and influenced embryonic growth and amino acid metabolism.

Effect of eggshell temperatures on hatching performance, egg production, and bone morphology of laying hens

Serdar Kamanli et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the impact of different eggshell temperatures on hatching performance, chick weight, bone morphology, and egg production in laying chickens. Higher eggshell temperatures led to reduced chick weight at hatch but improved bone morphology and ash content. However, this positive effect was not maintained in the long term, indicating that the benefits of higher eggshell temperatures may not be sustained over time.
