Pesticide exposure of workers in apple growing in France

Mathilde Bureau et al.

Summary: The study found that workers performing re-entry tasks in apple orchards are at higher risk of pesticide exposure, especially in tasks such as thinning and anti-hail net opening. Contamination on workers' hands and heads was more significant than other body parts during different tasks.

A new conceptional model for deriving average dermal absorption estimates from studies with multiple tested concentrations for non-dietary risk assessment of pesticides

Felix M. Kluxen et al.

Summary: Dermal absorption values are used to estimate the potential systemic exposure of pesticides. This study analyzes the EFSA dermal absorption database and proposes a method based on applied dose to calculate dermal absorption values, which simplifies risk assessment.

Assessment of dermal exposure to pesticides among farmers using dosimeter and hand washing methods

Summaiya Lari et al.

Summary: Inappropriate use of pesticides and unsafe handling practices among farmers in developing countries, particularly in India, has led to high exposure risk. This study aimed to assess dermal exposure to pesticide residues through field observations and management practices in Rangareddy district, Telangana, Southern India. The findings showed that contamination through hand washing was the major contributor to dermal exposure, and the use of personal protective equipment significantly reduced exposure levels in certain regions of the body.
