Summary: This study evaluated the acquisition time and image quality of simultaneous multislice-accelerated diffusion-weighted imaging (SMS-DWI) compared to conventional DWI (C-DWI) in rectal imaging. The results showed that SMS-DWI had a significant reduction in acquisition time while maintaining similar image quality as C-DWI.

The value of multi-parameter diffusion and perfusion magnetic resonance imaging for evaluating epithelial-mesenchymal transition in rectal cancer

Summary: This study investigated the feasibility of using multi-parameter diffusion and perfusion MRI to evaluate the expression of E-cadherin and vimentin, major biomarkers of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), in rectal cancer. The results showed that the quantitative parameters of diffusion and perfusion MRI were correlated with the expression of E-cadherin and vimentin. The combined diagnostic model using these parameters showed good performance in evaluating EMT. These findings provide valuable information for non-invasive and preoperative assessment of the tumor microenvironment.

Summary: This study evaluated the feasibility of simultaneous multi-slice readout segmentation of long variable echo-trains (SMS-RESOLVE) for diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) and determined that an acceleration factor of 2 yielded the best compromise between image quality and scan time reduction compared to conventional RESOLVE DWI. Acceleration factor of 3 showed significantly poorer image quality despite shorter scan times.
