LiMS-Net: A Lightweight Multi-Scale CNN for COVID-19 Detection from Chest CT Scans

Amogh Manoj Joshi et al.

Summary: In recent years, employing deep learning methods, especially convolutional neural networks (CNNs), has become more common for detecting COVID-19 cases using chest CT scans. However, most state-of-the-art models suffer from overfitting due to limited training samples, leading to reduced detection performance. To address these issues, a lightweight multi-scale CNN called LiMS-Net is proposed in this paper. LiMS-Net utilizes different-sized filters to extract multi-scale features from suspicious regions and achieves higher performance than pretrained CNN models and state-of-the-art methods, even with limited CT data. The model has 2.53M parameters, requiring low computational cost and memory space.

Automatic diagnosis of COVID-19 with MCA-inspired TQWT-based classification of chest X-ray images

Kumari Jyoti et al.

Summary: In this study, a two-dimensional tunable Q-wavelet transform based on a memristive crossbar array is introduced for the accurate diagnosis of COVID-19 using chest X-ray images. The proposed method achieved promising results in terms of peak signal-to-noise ratio and structural similarity index measure. The processed images were further classified using CNN models, and the average accuracy exceeded conventional methods based on deep learning techniques. Moreover, the proposed method showed higher accuracy with less complexity, energy consumption, power consumption, area consumption, and cost estimation compared to CMOS-based technology.

Application of deep learning techniques for detection of COVID-19 cases using chest X-ray images: A comprehensive study

Soumya Ranjan Nayak et al.

Summary: The emergence of COVID-19 in December 2019 has caused significant damage, with approximately five million confirmed cases worldwide. To address the insufficient testing capacity and time-consuming manual testing methods, an automated early diagnosis system using DL algorithms is proposed in this study. ResNet-34 demonstrated the best performance with an accuracy of 98.33% for classifying COVID-19 from normal cases, suggesting its potential for early detection of the virus.

Automatic detection of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) using X-ray images and deep convolutional neural networks

Ali Narin et al.

Summary: The 2019 novel coronavirus disease has rapidly spread worldwide, with nearly 101,917,147 cases reported, leading to a limited availability of COVID-19 test kits in hospitals. To address this, an automatic detection system using pre-trained convolutional neural network-based models was proposed for detecting coronavirus pneumonia-infected patients. Among the five models tested, ResNet50 demonstrated the highest accuracy in classifying COVID-19 patients from X-ray images.
