Probing Diffusive Dynamics of Natural Tubule Nanoclays with Machine Learning

Ilia A. Iakovlev et al.

Summary: In this paper, the authors address the challenges of studying natural clays' diffusive motion and stochastic properties with limited experimental data. By utilizing dark-field microscopy and machine learning algorithms, they quantitatively characterize the rotational diffusive dynamics of nanotubes. The proposed method can be applied to explore diffusive dynamics of various biological systems in real time.

BINDING OF DNA TO NATURAL SEPIOLITE: APPLICATIONS IN BIOTECHNOLOGY AND PERSPECTIVES

Sandrine Ragu et al.

Summary: DNA manipulation is crucial for many biotechnological prospects and medical applications, and the natural magnesium silicate clay mineral sepiolite, with its capacity to bind to DNA, shows potential as a useful tool in these fields. Sepiolite is also advantageous due to its low cost, non-toxic nature, and non-carcinogenic properties.

Sepiolite-Hydrogels: Synthesis by Ultrasound Irradiation and Their Use for the Preparation of Functional Clay-Based Nanoarchitectured Materials

Eduardo Ruiz-Hitzky et al.

Summary: This study reports the ability to generate highly viscous and stable hydrogels from ground sepiolite through sonomechanical irradiation, leading to comparable rheological properties to commercial products upon re-dispersion in water. These colloidal systems have the potential to stabilize diverse compounds and nano/micro-particles, enabling the production of a wide variety of composites and nano/micro-architectured solids.
