Silver nanoparticles as a viricidal agent to inhibit plant-infecting viruses and disrupt their acquisition and transmission by their aphid vector

Ahmed Y. El Gamal et al.

Summary: Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) show curative viricidal activity against bean yellow mosaic virus (BYMV), effectively inhibiting virus replication and transmission within plant tissues. AgNPs can prevent disease occurrence and reduce virus acquisition and transmission efficiency by aphid vectors, making them a promising tool for managing viral plant diseases.

Foliar Applications of Bacillus subtilis HA1 Culture Filtrate Enhance Tomato Growth and Induce Systemic Resistance against Tobacco mosaic virus Infection

Hamada El-Gendi et al.

Summary: The application of microbial products as natural biocontrol agents for inducing systemic resistance against plant viral infections represents a promising strategy for sustainable and eco-friendly agricultural applications. In this study, the culture filtrate of Bacillus subtilis strain HA1 (Acc# OM286889) was shown to effectively enhance tomato plant development and reduce Tobacco mosaic virus accumulation. The treatment stimulated the transcription of defense-related genes and contained bioactive compounds that contribute to induced systemic resistance in tomato plants.

Biodegradation of azo dyes by bacterial or fungal consortium and identification of the biodegradation products

Wafaa M. Abd El-Rahim et al.

Summary: A study was conducted on microbial degradation of fifteen azo dyes, revealing that fungal consortia were more effective in dye degradation compared to bacterial mixtures. However, more bacterial strains led to lower degradation percentages. Different major biodegradation products were produced by fungi and bacteria for two commonly used dyes.
