The Combined Environmental Stress on the Leaves ofOlea europaeaL. and the Relief Mechanism Through Biosynthesis of Certain Secondary Metabolites

Aikaterina L. Stefi et al.

Summary: Plants under stress in a Mediterranean climate produce secondary metabolites as a relief response, including an increase in reactive oxygen species accumulation and a decrease in absorbance of photosynthetic pigments. The activated secondary metabolic pathway also promotes the synthesis of antioxidant phenolic compounds.

Structure and organization of the secretion apparatus of the mastic tree (Pistacia lentiscus L.) and LC-HRMS analysis of leaf extracts

Aikaterina L. Stefi et al.

Summary: The study found significant differences in the anatomy of the root, primary and secondary shoots, as well as summer and winter leaves of P. lentiscus. The biochemicals secreted by summer and winter leaves were qualitatively different and displayed noticeable quantitative differences. This detailed investigation may help improve yield and promote the production of valuable phytochemicals through in vitro cultures.

Integrated Analysis of Metabolome and Transcriptome Reveals Insights for Cold Tolerance in Rapeseed (Brassica napus L.)

Ali Raza et al.

Summary: Rapeseed is an important oilseed crop and enhancing cold stress tolerance is crucial for agricultural investigation and crop improvement. This study identified stress-responsive genes, metabolites, and pathways in cold-tolerant and cold-sensitive rapeseed varieties. Functional analysis revealed the significance of starch and sucrose metabolism and phenylalanine metabolism in cold stress adaption. Six candidate genes were selected for controlling adaption to low temperature and showed significant differences in freezing tolerance.
