Insidious Attentional Deficits in Patients With Cerebral Small Vessel Disease Revealed by Attention Network Test

Yunliang Guo et al.

Summary: In this study, the attention network efficiency of patients with CSVD was evaluated using the attention network test paradigm. It was found that patients had impaired orienting and executive control functions, while their alerting network remained intact. These attention deficits were correlated with the total burden of CSVD, but not with anxiety, depression, or somatization.

Short-Term Effects of a Multidisciplinary Residential Rehabilitation Program on Perceived Risks, Confidence Toward Continuous Positive Airway Pressure Treatment, and Self-Efficacy in a Sample of Individuals Affected by Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome

Federica Scarpina et al.

Summary: This study examined the changes in cognitions and beliefs of individuals after a multidisciplinary residential rehabilitation program targeting adaptation to CPAP therapy for OSA syndrome. Participants showed significant changes in confidence toward treatment, with no significant changes in perceived risks and self-efficacy. Temperamental traits seemed to play a role in changes related to perceived risks. Behavioral interventions may be needed in addition to education to improve self-efficacy.

Improving CPAP Adherence in Adults With Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome: A Scoping Review of Motivational Interventions

Giada Rapelli et al.

Summary: The scoping review examined the efficacy of motivational interventions to increase adherence to CPAP among patients with OSAS, finding that these interventions were more effective than usual care and educational programs. However, the results were not consistently maintained across all studies. Further research is needed to provide a detailed description of motivational strategies and test their association with positive treatment outcomes.

Executive function in obesity and anorexia nervosa: Opposite ends of a spectrum of disordered feeding behaviour?

Claire J. Foldi et al.

Summary: Obesity and anorexia nervosa are both associated with impaired decision-making and cognitive flexibility, but impulsive behavior presents in opposing directions. Different patterns of activation in subregions of the prefrontal cortex are observed in these two conditions, with alterations in cognitive and behavioral flexibility showing similar trends but with varying degrees of dysfunction.

Psychological Well-Being in Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome Associated With Obesity: The Relationship With Personality, Cognitive Functioning, and Subjective and Objective Sleep Quality

Federica Scarpina et al.

Summary: This study found that individuals affected by obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) syndrome and obesity experienced severely affected psychological well-being, with lower scores in the Psychological General Well-Being Index. Low harm avoidance temperament expression and daily sleepiness levels predicted higher psychological well-being, indicating that temperament and daily alertness perceptions played significant roles in individual psychological well-being perceptions in addition to syndrome severity.
