Stable Isotopes and Halogen Geochemistry of the Huayuan Carbonate-hosted Pb-Zn Ore District, South China: Implications for the Salt Source of Ore-forming Fluids

Zhen Yang et al.

Summary: The Huayuan Pb-Zn ore district in China is a large carbonate-hosted Pb-Zn ore district located in western Hunan Province. The ore-forming fluids are mainly derived from evaporitic basin brines that leached base metals from the basement and precipitated sulfides through thermochemical sulfate reduction.

Hydrothermal apatite record of ore-forming processes in the Hatu orogenic gold deposit, West Junggar, Northwest China

Jiahao Zheng et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the hydrothermal apatite grains from the Hatu gold deposit in China and investigates the mineralization processes and nature of ore-forming fluids. The study reveals the presence of three types of hydrothermal fluorapatite and their distinct compositions and textures, indicating three episodes of apatite formation. The study also suggests that the sulfur in the gold ores may be derived from metamorphic rocks rather than sedimentary rocks.

Apatite as a magma redox indicator and its application in metallogenic research

Hairuo Wang et al.

Summary: Apatite can record the primary redox state of precursor magma, and only the apatite As and S contents can reflect the magma redox state. The calculated fO2 results indicate that the regional magma has little potential to form porphyry Cu deposit due to its low oxygen fugacity.

Origin of the Early Cambrian Huayuan carbonate-hosted Zn-Pb orefield, South China: Constraints from sulfide trace elements and sulfur isotopes

Wen-Dong Zhang et al.

Summary: The Huayuan Zn-Pb orefield in the southeastern Yangtze Craton is an important mineral resource area, containing several large Lower Cambrian carbonate-hosted deposits. The ore-forming processes in this area are complex and mainly resulted from fluid mixing. The mineralization occurred in three stages, forming different types of ores. The Limei and Danaopo deposits in the Huayuan orefield exhibit similar characteristics to typical MVT ores.

Origin of the carbonate-hosted Danaopo Zn-Pb deposit in western Hunan Province, China: Geology and in-situ mineral S-Pb isotope constraints

Tao Wu et al.

Summary: The western Hunan-eastern Guizhou Pb-Zn metallogenic belt has a large amount of lead-zinc resources, with the Danaopo Zn-Pb deposit being one of the largest in the region. The study discovered distinct thermochemical sulfate reduction and lead isotopic characteristics, shedding light on the ore genesis of the deposit.

Behavior of apatite in granitic melts derived from partial melting of muscovite in metasedimentary sources

Li-E Gao et al.

Summary: Fluid-absent and fluid-fluxed melting of muscovite in metasedimentary sources produce different geochemical compositions of apatite grains, which can be useful as a petrogenetic indicator to reveal invisible processes at the whole-rock scale. Apatite grains offer high potential to yield information about petrogenetic processes that are not easily observable at the whole-rock scale.
