UHPLC-ESI-OT-MS Phenolics Profiling, Free Radical Scavenging, Antibacterial and Nematicidal Activities of Yellow-Brown Resins from Larrea spp.

Jessica Gomez et al.

Summary: The yellow-brown resins from Larrea divaricata Cav and L. nitida Cav showed strong antioxidant and antibacterial activities, but limited nematicidal potential. Combining the resins with the antibiotic cefotaxime could be a potential strategy to reduce bacterial resistance.

Optimisation of Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium for Soilless Production of Cannabis sativa in the Flowering Stage Using Response Surface Analysis

Lewys Bevan et al.

Summary: The study found that under deep-water culture conditions, the yield of high THC cannabis cultivars responded quadratically to concentrations of nitrogen and phosphorus, with optimal concentrations predicted to be 194 and 59 mg L-1 respectively, while showing no significant response to potassium.

A Multimethodological Characterization of Cannabis sativa L. Inflorescences from Seven Dioecious Cultivars Grown in Italy: The Effect of Different Harvesting Stages

Mattia Spano et al.

Summary: Chemical profiles of inflorescence extracts from seven Cannabis sativa L. dioecious cultivars were monitored at three harvesting stages, showing variability in metabolite composition. Different cultivars and harvesting stages exhibited unique chemical profiles, providing valuable guidance for producers and industries.

Metabolomic Profiling of Fresh Goji (Lycium barbarum L.) Berries from Two Cultivars Grown in Central Italy: A Multi-Methodological Approach

Mattia Spano et al.

Summary: The metabolite profile of fresh Goji berries from two cultivars was analyzed, revealing higher sucrose content in Sweet Lifeberry extracts and elevated levels of amino acids in SL berries harvested in October. Chlorophylls and total carotenoids decreased over time. Additionally, promising biological activity was observed in Goji leaves and Big Lifeberry berries extracts.

Essential Oil of Cannabis sativa L: Comparison of Yield and Chemical Composition of 11 Hemp Genotypes

Ylenia Pieracci et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the yield and chemical composition of essential oil obtained by hydrodistillation from eleven hemp genotypes in two consecutive growing seasons. Sesquiterpenes and cannabinoids were found to be the main compounds in hemp essential oils, with statistical analysis showing a partition based on the year of cultivation rather than the genotype. Significant variation in extraction yield was observed among genotypes and cultivation years.

A Review of Hemp as Food and Nutritional Supplement

Pellegrino Cerino et al.

Summary: Hemp is a valuable crop with a wide range of uses, including food, textiles, and biofuels. Different parts of the hemp plant contain beneficial compounds such as nonpsychoactive cannabinoids in the inflorescence and essential nutrients in hempseed. The marketing of hemp-derived products is regulated worldwide due to various factors, including the presence of CBD and restrictions on Cannabis inflorescence.
