Molecular dynamics of estrogen-related receptors and their regulatory proteins: roles in transcriptional control for endocrine and metabolic signaling

Takashi Tanida

Summary: ERRs, including alpha, beta, and gamma subtypes, are members of the nuclear receptor superfamily with high homology to estrogen receptor alpha, although they cannot bind endogenous hormones. Recent studies have shown close associations of ERRs with hormone-related cancers and metabolic disorders, focusing on subcellular dynamics involved in transcriptional regulation. Their unique transregulation mechanisms respond to extracellular stimuli, suggesting an adaptive system behind cellular homeostatic regulation by orphan NRs.

The dietary anthocyanin delphinidin prevents bone resorption by inhibiting Rankl-induced differentiation of osteoclasts in a medaka (Oryzias latipes) model of osteoporosis

Nurgul Imangali et al.

Summary: In this study, the effects of the natural compound delphinidin on bone cells were investigated using a medaka osteoporosis model. Delphinidin was found to significantly reduce the number of osteoclasts and protect bone integrity in a dose-dependent manner, primarily affecting the differentiation of macrophages into osteoclasts. The study provides new insights into the potential bone protective effects of delphinidin.

Occurrence, toxicity and ecological risk of Bisphenol A analogues in aquatic environment - A review

Jianchao Liu et al.

Summary: This study outlined the occurrence and toxicity of Bisphenol analogues (BPs) in the aquatic environment, indicating potential risks to the aquatic ecosystem and human health. In some areas, BPs concentration in aquatic environment exceeded that in sewage plant effluent, highlighting potential hazards to the aquatic ecosystem.

Evolution of Matrix Gla and Bone Gla Protein Genes in Jawed Vertebrates

Nicolas Leurs et al.

Summary: The study found that there are three genes (Mgp1, Mgp2, and Bgp) in cartilaginous fishes, instead of the previously reported single Mgp gene. This indicates a dynamic evolutionary scenario for the Mgp/Bgp gene family, including several events of local duplications and translocation events. The research also revealed the expression patterns of Mgp1, Mgp2, and Bgp in cartilaginous fishes, highlighting ancestral and derived features compared to bony vertebrates.

G-Protein-Coupled Estrogen Receptor-1 Positively Regulates the Growth Plate Chondrocyte Proliferation in Female Pubertal Mice

Ya-Shuan Chou et al.

Summary: Estrogen enhances long bone growth during early puberty, with GPER-1 playing a crucial role in regulating growth plate chondrocyte function. Knocking out GPER-1 in chondrocytes led to decreased body length and bone growth, demonstrating GPER-1's positive regulation on chondrocyte proliferation and longitudinal bone growth.
