Experimental investigation of rheological properties of water-base mud with zinc oxide nanoparticles using response surface methodology

Alhaitham M. Alkalbani et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the effects of zinc oxide nanoparticles on the rheological properties of water-based mud and found that the addition of zinc oxide nanoparticles significantly improved the rheological properties of the mud. Higher concentrations of zinc oxide nanoparticles at low temperatures resulted in the most effective enhancement of rheological properties.

Evaluation of rheological and filtration properties of a polymeric water-based drilling mud in presence of nano additives at various temperatures

Ali Esfandyari Bayat et al.

Summary: This research evaluated the impacts of SiO2 and TiO2 nanoparticles on the rheological and filtration properties of polymeric water-based muds. It was found that SiO2 nanoparticles significantly increased the YP and GS values of the base mud, while also reducing the PV values and fluid loss. This improvement was more significant compared to TiO2 nanoparticles.

Rheological analysis and EOR potential of surfactant treated single-step silica nanofluid at high temperature and salinity

Krishna Raghav Chaturvedi et al.

Summary: Single-step silica nanofluids were found to destabilize at higher temperatures and in the presence of salt, but showed stability within a pH range of 8-10. The addition of anionic surfactant improved nanofluid stability, although high surfactant concentrations resulted in increased agglomeration. Using surfactant treated single-step silica nanofluids may provide better results for oil recovery applications compared to conventional nanofluids.
