Facial Acne: A Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Study on the Clinical Efficacy of a Symbiotic Dietary Supplement

Fabio Rinaldi et al.

Summary: This study examined the efficacy of a dietary supplement containing probiotics and botanical extracts in the treatment of mild to moderate acne. The results showed that the supplement significantly improved the number of inflammatory lesions and reduced desquamation score, sebum secretion rate, and porphyrin mean count. Furthermore, the supplement led to a decrease in Cutibacterium acnes and S. aureus, and an increase in Staphylococcus epidermidis. These findings suggest that the supplement could be a promising option for the treatment of inflammatory acne.
