Factors predicting 6-min walking test indexes in adults with cystic fibrosis

C. Carpio et al.

Summary: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between 6-min walking test (6MWT) indices and lung function in patients diagnosed with cystic fibrosis (CF) and evaluate factors associated with these indices. The results showed that 6MWT indices correlated with lung function, and factors such as female sex, severity of dyspnea at rest, and nutritional biomarkers influenced these indices.

Association of air pollution exposure with exercise-induced oxygen desaturation in COPD

Kang-Yun Lee et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of exercise-induced desaturation (EID) in COPD patients with emphysema and determine its association with air pollution exposure, emphysema severity, and dynamic hyperinflation (DH). The results showed that long-term exposure to PM10, PM2.5, and NO2 was associated with EID.

CT-defined emphysema in COPD patients and risk for change in desaturation status in 6-min walk test

Marie Waatevik et al.

Summary: Emphysema was found to increase the risk of new and repeated desaturation, with a one percent increase in emphysema corresponding to a 10% increase in relative risk for new desaturation and a 20% increase for repeated desaturation. In dominance analysis, emphysema ranked as the most important risk factor for desaturation, outweighing FEV1% predicted and resting saturation.
