Bisphenol A degradation by peroxymonosulfate photo-activation coupled with carbon-based cobalt ferrite nanocomposite: Performance, upgrading synergy and mechanistic pathway

Summary: Cobalt ferrite nanoparticles anchored on multiwalled carbon nanotubes were used to synthesize a nanocomposite for enhanced catalytic activity towards the degradation of bisphenol A through photo-activated peroxymonosulfate. The combination of catalyst, UV light, and PMS showed a significant synergy in the degradation of BPA, exhibiting high removal efficiencies within a short reaction time. The presence of radical mechanisms and stable leaching of metal ions confirmed the potential of this method for efficient treatment of BPA-contaminated water.

Summary: This study aimed to enhance wastewater treatment through the UVC/persulfate process coupled with spinel cobalt ferrite nanoparticles anchoring graphitic carbon nitride. The results showed that the developed SCF@GCN catalyst exhibited high photocatalytic activity and excellent capability in persulfate activation, leading to the rapid degradation of bisphenol A (BPA). The proposed mechanistic pathway for BPA degradation involved both radical and non-radical mechanisms. The system also demonstrated satisfactory performance in treating BPA-contaminated wastewater samples.

Preparation, photocatalytic and antibacterial studies on novel doped ferrite nanoparticles: Characterization and mechanism evaluation

The nanocomposite demonstrated potential for high reusability after four cycles of reuse.
