Global burden of bacterial antimicrobial resistance in 2019: a systematic analysis

Christopher J. L. Murray et al.

Summary: Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) poses a significant threat to global human health, and this study provides the most comprehensive estimates of AMR burden to date. By estimating deaths and disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) associated with bacterial AMR in 204 countries and territories in 2019, the study highlights the impact of resistance and the leading pathogen-drug combinations contributing to it.

Comparative Transcriptome Analysis Reveals Differentially Expressed Genes Related to Antimicrobial Properties of Lysostaphin in Staphylococcus aureus

Xianghe Yan et al.

Summary: Comparative transcriptome analysis and de novo short-read assembly of S. aureus Newman strains revealed significant transcriptional changes in response to exposure to triple-acting staphylolytic peptidoglycan hydrolase (PGH) 1801. The differential gene expressions were associated with membrane, cell wall, and related genes, and some of these changes corresponded to observed structural perturbations at the DNA and RNA levels. These findings provide valuable insights into the design of new antimicrobial agents.

Comprehensive Genomic Analysis of Marine Strain Streptomyces sp. 891, an Excellent Producer of Chrysomycin A with Therapeutic Potential

Xu Hu et al.

Summary: By combining different sequencing technologies, the genome and plasmid of the Chrysomycin A-producing strain 891 were successfully assembled. The strain was identified as belonging to the Streptomyces genus, and key biosynthetic gene clusters for Chrysomycin were identified. These findings provide insights for further research on increasing the production of Chrysomycin A using genetic engineering and combinatorial biology approaches.

Formulation of Chrysomycin A Cream for the Treatment of Skin Infections

Haohua Liu et al.

Summary: Chrysomycin A, derived from marine microorganisms, has shown significant in vitro inhibitory effect against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). To overcome its poor water solubility, a chrysomycin A cream was developed for the treatment of skin infections. The cream had a smooth and lustrous surface, met the particle size requirements, and exhibited long-term stability. In vitro and in vivo studies demonstrated that the cream had similar anti-MRSA activity to the commercially available mupirocin, suggesting its potential as an effective topical delivery system for skin infection treatment.

Chrysomycin A Attenuates Neuroinflammation by Down-Regulating NLRP3/Cleaved Caspase-1 Signaling Pathway in LPS-Stimulated Mice and BV2 Cells

Man Liu et al.

Summary: Chrysomycin A has anti-neuroinflammatory effects possibly through regulating cytokine responses and immune system processes. KEGG enrichment analysis suggests its mechanisms may involve TNF signaling pathway, cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction, NF-kappa B signaling pathway, IL-17 signaling pathway and NOD-like receptor signaling pathway.
