Selective catalytic reduction of NOx by NH3 over V2O5-WO3 supported by titanium isopropoxide (TTIP)-treated TiO2

Geumyeon Lee et al.

Summary: This study aims to produce more efficient catalysts for NOx removal by treating the TiO2 support with titanium isopropoxide (TTIP) to increase the number of catalytically active sites and facilitate the dispersal of active materials. The catalyst prepared at a TTIP loading of 5 wt% showed optimal performance due to increased thermal stability caused by high extent of W dispersion and the formation of V(4+) by the reaction of V5+ with surface Ti3+.

Reduction of NOx Emission from the Cement Industry in South Korea: A Review

Ji-Hyeon Kim et al.

Summary: As climate change becomes a global concern, the issue of environmental pollutants emitted from the cement industry is gaining attention. The industry produces a significant amount of cement each year, but the calcination process leads to the emission of air pollutants, particularly NOx. To comply with regulatory standards, the industry utilizes NOx removal processes, including selective non-catalytic reduction (SNCR) and selective catalytic reduction (SCR). This paper focuses on the mitigation technologies adopted by cement companies in South Korea to reduce NOx emissions.

Research of coupling technologies on NOx reduction in a municipal solid waste incinerator

Xucong Yang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the denitrification process in municipal solid waste incinerator based on coupling technologies of flue gas recirculation, over-fired air, and selective non-catalytic reduction through numerical simulation. The results demonstrated that the application of flue gas recirculation, especially at a ratio of 20%, significantly reduced NOx emissions and improved boiler efficiency. When coupled with over-fired air technology, the selective non-catalytic reduction technology further enhanced the removal efficiency of NOx. Overall, the coupling of these technologies achieved a high NOx removal efficiency of 76.48%.

Influence of phosphorus on the NH3-SCR performance of CeO2-TiO2 catalyst for NOx removal from co-incineration flue gas of domestic waste and municipal sludge

Jun Cao et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of phosphorus on the NH3-SCR performance and physicochemical properties of CeO2-TiO2 catalyst. The results show that phosphorus decreases the NH3-SCR activity and suppresses the formation of NOx and N2O caused by NH3 over-oxidation. The introduction of phosphorus disrupts the catalyst's structure, limiting the transfer of electrons, the relative contents of Ce3+, and the surface adsorbed oxygen, leading to the inhibition of NH3 over-oxidation.

Promotional effect of phosphorus addition on improving the SO2 resistance of V2O5-MoO3/TiO2 catalyst for NH3-SCR of NO

Li Huang et al.

Summary: The study shows that loading phosphorus on V2O5-MoO3/TiO2 catalyst can enhance its resistance to SO2 and improve NH3-SCR De-NOx activity. A suitable amount of phosphorus can increase the content of polymeric vanadate and chemisorbed oxygen in the catalyst, inhibiting the absorption and oxidation activity of SO2, thus reducing the deposition of NH4HSO4.

Influence of support composition on enhancing the performance of Ce-V on TiO2 comprised tungsten-silica for NH3-SCR

Dong Wook Kwon et al.

Summary: The roles of WO3 and SiO2 as supported on TiO2 in Ce-V catalysts were systematically investigated for NH3-SCR and NH3-oxidation at high temperatures. The addition of SiO2 and WO3 to TiO2 resulted in increased surface area, reduced nanoparticle size, and enhanced catalytic defects and oxygen species on Ce-V/TWS surface. Increasing (V4+ + V3+) fraction improved catalytic activity, with WO3 and SiO2 promoting redox properties and making Ce-V/TWS the most suitable catalyst for N-2 production via NH3 direct oxidation at high temperatures.

Converting Poisonous Sulfate Species to an Active Promoter on TiO2 Predecorated MnOx Catalysts for the NH3-SCR Reaction

Hui Kang et al.

Summary: By introducing TiO2 nanoparticles and sulfate into MnOx-based catalysts, the active-temperature window for NH3 selective catalytic reduction was significantly broadened, and the formation of solid superacid species (SO42-TiO2) efficiently inhibited the poisonous effects of sulfate on the catalyst. Additionally, the solid superacid species weakened the redox ability and enhanced the high-temperature activity of the catalyst.

Ca Doping Effect on the Competition of NH3-SCR and NH3 Oxidation Reactions over Vanadium-Based Catalysts

Summary: The poisoning effect of Ca limits the further application of vanadium-based catalysts in high-calcium content flue gas. CaO doping deteriorates the surface acid sites and oxidation/reduction properties of V2O5-WO3/TiO2 (VWT) and V2O5/TiO2 (VT) catalysts, leading to a decrease in NO conversion during NH3-SCR, with NH3 oxidation becoming more competitive at higher temperatures.
