A new multi-criteria decision making approach based on wins in league to avoid rank reversal: A case study on prioritizing environmental deterioration strategies in arid urban areas

Seyyed Shahabaddin Hosseini Dehshiri et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel approach based on multi-criteria analysis was proposed to prioritize PM mitigation strategies. It was found that rank reversal frequently occurred in classical MCDM methods used in environmental research, but this phenomenon was prevented in the proposed method. The evaluation of different methods showed that the proposed approach had a significantly lower probability of rank reversal compared to classical MCDM methods. Furthermore, the evaluation of PM mitigation strategies in arid urban areas demonstrated that the urban green belt plan was the most suitable strategy.

Seyyed Shahabaddin Hosseini Dehshiri et al.

Summary: Hydrogen generation from renewable energy resources is considered as a suitable solution to energy and greenhouse gas reduction issues. This study provides an integrated framework using GIS and MCDM to identify suitable areas for wind farms to produce hydrogen. Economic criteria were found to be the most important, with distance to urban areas being the most significant sub-criterion. The results showed that the southern and central sectors of Yazd province are the most suitable areas for hydrogen production. The feasibility analysis indicated that the province has the capacity to generate hydrogen at a significant rate annually.

Techno-economic assessment of a hybrid on grid PV-wave system: A case study in Caspian Sea

Mahdieh Arabzadeh Saheli et al.

Summary: The application of hybrid renewable energy systems (HRES) is increasing due to low-carbon policies and rising energy demand. This research investigates the feasibility of a hybrid wave-photovoltaic (PV) system in three ports in Iran using MATLAB/Simulink. The findings show that the system's maximum energy production occurs in May and minimum in November. The annual energy generation in the ports ranges from 11607.4 kWh to 13419.2 kWh. The levelised cost of electricity (LCOE) indicates that one port is the best location for the hybrid system. However, considering Iran's economic conditions, the system is currently not economically viable, but it is anticipated to become feasible in the future with the elimination of energy subsidies.
